The 24 Hour Fitness Center in Northeast Columbia

5 min read

The exterior of a fitness facility lit from inside during the evening

A 24 hour fitness center opens on 1 October 2026 on Sparkleberry Lane Extension in Northeast Columbia, in the same building as the basketball courts. Membership is $30 a month.

That is the confirmed part, and it is short. The rest of this page is about what that actually means, and about the things we are deliberately not telling you yet because nobody has confirmed them.

What is actually confirmed

Four rows of that table say nothing useful, and that is on purpose. A facility that publishes an invented equipment list before it opens is setting up somebody to turn up on 2 October expecting a piece of kit that was never ordered. We would rather have half a table that is true.

What 24 hours actually means

The courts here have run on round-the-clock access since 2024, so this is not a new idea being tried out on a gym. It is the same model applied to the other half of the building.

In practice it means the hours are not the product of somebody's shift pattern. Most gyms close because a staffed building has to, and the hours that get cut first are the early mornings and the late nights, which are exactly the hours a lot of people are free. Shift workers, nurses, hospitality staff, students, and parents who only get an hour once the house is asleep all run into the same wall.

Whether that matters to you depends entirely on when you would actually go. If you train at six in the evening like most people, plenty of gyms in Columbia will serve you well and several will cost less. If you have ever given up on a workout because a building was shut, the model is the point.

The honest caveats

Three, stated plainly.

We cannot tell you what is in it

Equipment, layout and staffed hours are not published. If the deciding factor for you is whether there is a squat rack or a particular machine, this page cannot answer that and neither can anybody guessing on the internet. Ask directly and you will get a real answer rather than a plausible one.

$30 is a fact, not a boast

There are national chains operating in this market at half that, and if the lowest possible monthly number is what you are optimising for, one of them will win. The thing being sold here is the hour you can actually use, not the smallest figure on the page.

It is new

Anything that opens on a given date opens with the teething problems of a new facility. That is worth knowing before you join rather than after.

Who a round-the-clock model actually suits

It is worth being specific, because the answer is not everybody and the honest version is more useful than a pitch.

People whose free hour is not a normal hour. Shift workers, hospital staff, hospitality and retail workers on a closing shift, and anybody whose weekend falls on a Tuesday. This group is poorly served by almost every gym in every city, and it is the group the model exists for.

People with young children. The hour that exists is often after bedtime or before the house wakes up, and neither is a staffed hour anywhere.

People who train early. A five or six in the morning start is a normal preference and a lot of buildings do not open early enough for it.

And the group it does not especially suit: anybody who trains at six in the evening on a weekday. That hour is well served across Columbia, frequently for less money, and there is no reason to pretend otherwise.

What we will not do on this page

We will not list equipment we have not confirmed, because somebody would turn up expecting it.

We will not state staffed hours, because the phrase means something specific to people who care about it and guessing would mislead exactly the readers being most careful.

We will not imply that membership includes court time. It is not confirmed either way, and it is the sort of assumption that turns into a difficult conversation at a door.

We will not describe it as the best value in Columbia. There are cheaper monthly memberships within a short drive, and anybody comparing on monthly cost alone will find them.

That leaves a shorter page than most facilities publish before opening. It is the accurate one, and everything missing from it can be answered by a person.

The building it sits in

Courts on one side, fitness center on the other. It is the same address in Northeast Columbia, a short run from Lake Carolina, Sandhills, Elgin and Blythewood, which our service area page covers town by town.

Whether a membership and court time connect in any way is genuinely not settled, and we are not going to imply that they do. Today they are two separate things that happen to share a car park. Court hire is priced by the hour and that arrangement is unaffected by anything on this page.

Why a facility opens with half a page of detail

It is a fair question, and the answer is not evasiveness.

Fit-out decisions on a new facility get made late and change more than once. Equipment orders slip, layouts move, and a spec published in September is frequently wrong by October. Plenty of places publish one anyway, on the reasonable assumption that nobody checks afterwards.

The cost of that is carried by whoever turns up on the strength of it. Somebody joins for a specific piece of kit, arrives, and it is not there. That is a bad first day for them and an avoidable one, and the only way to prevent it is to publish nothing that has not been confirmed.

The opening date and the monthly price are confirmed, so they are here in plain terms. Everything else moves into this page as it is settled, rather than being estimated now and corrected quietly later.

If you want a specific answer before then, ask for it. A question about one machine, or one hour, or one term gets a real answer from somebody who knows, which is more useful than a list on a page.

How this compares with the usual gym models

Three shapes dominate this market and it is useful to know which one a 24 hour facility is closest to.

The big national chains. Low monthly price, long hours, heavily equipped, and a contract that is usually the thing people complain about later. If monthly cost is your only criterion, this is where you will land, and that is a perfectly rational choice.

Community and recreation centres. Cheap or included with residency, genuinely good facilities in places, and tied to staffed hours that suit a nine to five life. Excellent value if your schedule fits them.

Smaller independent facilities. Fewer members, quieter floors, and the hours are set by whoever runs it rather than by a head office. This is the category a small round-the-clock facility sits in, and the trade is usually a smaller footprint in exchange for being able to turn up whenever.

None of those is the right answer for everybody, and a facility that tells you it is has stopped being useful. The question worth asking yourself before joining anything is simply which hour you will actually go, and then whether the place is open then.

Being told when it opens

If you want the detail as it is confirmed, including the parts this page deliberately leaves blank, there is a short form on the fitness center page. It goes to a person rather than a mailing sequence, and the answer you get back will be the actual one.

And if what you came here for was a basketball court rather than a gym, that side of the building is already open and has been since 2024. You can see what hours are free right now and book one from the same page.

Questions people ask

When does the 24 Hour Fitness Center open?
1 October 2026, on Sparkleberry Lane Extension in Northeast Columbia.
How much is membership?
$30 a month.
Is it really open 24 hours?
That is the model, the same one the courts already run on. The building is set up for access outside staffed hours rather than for a front desk.
What equipment is there?
Not published yet. Rather than guess, we would rather you asked and got a straight answer, so there is a form on the fitness center page for exactly that.
Is it the same place as the basketball courts?
Same building, opposite side. The courts are on one side and the fitness center on the other.
Does a membership include court time?
Not confirmed, and we will not guess at it. Court hire is priced by the hour today and that is the only thing we can state.
